**patting myself on the back**
COOL!! I knew "Pomp & Circumstance" by just the name!!--a thing I used to do all the time--but really can't remember a lot of that stuff now...I've forgotten a LOT. That was a game--we'd take turns--yell out a name, and you had to figure out what piece of music they were famous for...It was a lot easier with artists like "Joe Walsh", granted...the classical guys were the ones we had to THINK ABOUT!
Howevah--that piece of music is the ONLY ONE I KNOW by Elgar. That's what EVERYONE wanted when they came in looking for the "graduation music". I'm goin' to the library in the morning...I'll see what I can find as well!
LOL!! speaking of music, someone just called me "harmony house Kathy" on FB. A dubious honor, I guess. heh.
PEACE--Kath

Oh yeah, I said I'd tell ya...sorry! It's the week before Elections, so I'm busy with that, and a friend's 21 year old daughter was just moved into hospice, blah, blah... Okay...I LOVED IT. But THE WALL, DSOTM & MOMENTARY LAPSE OF REASON are my 1,2,3 favorites. And I LOVE THE MOVIE. It's the DARK SCARY SIDE of rock and roll...it's Bob Geldoff, trashing hotel rooms and shaving off his eyebrows...but the story of "Pink" and his issues...and the reasons...and the music. I love it. The seats were good...even though it was "row 2" NO ONE IN FRONT OF US--EXCEPT THE CAMERA CREW (who were shooting with 3 stationary cameras, so they weren't all over--and of course, I asked 'em...they're doing a set--and they're using footage from the entire tour, scheduled to be out NEXT year around this time...AND THIS WASN'T A garden variety PALACE GRUNT. THIS DUDE WAS their crew...AND yeah, I can tell the difference.), The crashing plane, (which was WAYYY BETTER than the other two times I've seen 'em! LOUD AND AWESOME PYROTECHNICS) the flying pig (BLACK with lots of graffiti), and all the amazing animation, was shown on THE WALL, which was partially built at the beginning, and would be "built" during the course of the show--plus some new footage here and there were thrown in. It was LOUD...and FROM THE UPPER LEVEL IN THE BACK...and to their sound guy...BRAVO! IT WAS C-R-I-S-P. Waters sounded amazing...you could hear and understand every word! And even the crew who were "building the wall", throughout the show, which I thought may be distracting, wasn't. I'll tellya what, though, IT WAS COOL AS HELL WHEN IT BLEW UP/FELL. I was kinda bummed that David Gilmour wasn't with him...it's been rumored that he's been showin' up for shows...but I think it was just the UK leg of the tour...THAT WOULD'VE BEEN COOL. And, right where you'd expect--AT THE END OF CD 1--there was a 15-minute intermission. So--I loved it. The sound was amazing, we had a great vantage point (if the cameras were IN FRONT OF US...I'd say I was correct...heh.), it was loud, it was great, and I was "comfortably numb" for the show...CHEERS! I guess there ARE advantages of being Ms. Magoo. LOL!!) I really hope they actually do release this. I have the one he did Live in Berlin--with all the parts sang by people...remember?--so, that would be cool if they do. A well-worth-the-wait birthday present!! PEACE--Kath

Yesterday I listened to Vol. 3 (the second album, LOL!) while working out at the health club. Some thoughts:
LOL!! This used to DRIVE ME BATSHIT. I know those guys think they're SLICK--but THEIR FANS? Not so much...try to explain that to the "run-of-the-mill" customer...(usually some dude with a chick he's tryin' to impress hangin' off his arm--same ones that come in to say they want "NOW YOU'RE MESSIN' WITH A SON OF A ****"......COME TO MAMA, MORONS...heh.): "Traveling Wilburys...here ya go. Y'all need anything else? (after the TOTAL EYE ROLL FROM BOTH OF THEM...)" "...I need the second one." "That IS the second one...there's only two Volumes..." "What a stupid ****...IT SAYS VOLUME 3...is there A DUDE OR A MANAGER I CAN TALK TO?" "DUDE--YOU'RE TALKIN' TO THE MANAGER...and you don't need to have a **** to KNOW MUSIC...Want my BOSS' NAME now??" AND, MY WORK IS DONE HERE. heh.

HELL. YEAH. At the Palace Of Auburn Hills; Tonight at "8 PROMPTLY"...no really--that's what it says on the ticket--Roger Waters will be doing THE WALL. LIVE. For Me and 17,250 of my fellow Rockdogs...It's worth the wait on a birthday present that I got in June!! 2ND level, straight back from the stage...2nd row, aisle seats. The best $78.00 each can buy at the time we got 'em... Stoner Smiley says PASS THE BINOCULARS and Don't spill my beer, bitches. I am NOT the designated driver this evening...since driving with me at night now is kind of a cross between Mr. Magoo and Space Mountain...It even scares ME. Definitely an E-TICKET kinda ride. heh. so...I'M THE DESIGNATED DRINKER. I'll only be able to afford ONE. (last time I bought one at this venue it was 7.50. YEAH. FOR ONE. I can buy a six of a decent beer for that...well sorta decent, anyway. This'll be bud light. Equally decent.) I'll let y'all know how it was. PEACE--Kath

Darrin's was 2 minutes before mine. heh. And...ANY Marilyn Manson fan knows that all the guys in the band all have first names of models/actresses and last names of Serial Killers...that one was EASY PEASY.

It's weird to see what people listen(s, ed) to in certain times of their lives...and how we all had our own, but yet similar tastes...who was big/popular...and perhaps Regional bias? I know a LOT of the bands I was listening to at the time were, in fact, local bands...some got big; some didn't. But we LIVED at the clubs back then, and I turned 21 the summer of '82 So, that could be the reason. So, if y'all look at the list, and say "WHO THE **** IS THAT?" Check 'em out...! And--I look back and realize that a good chunk of 'em are Canadian, too. I spent a lotta time in Windsor--across the border, where the Drinking Age is 19--we did that A LOT, just to be fair. LOL! I have a list...but do I think that any/some of 'em are "DEFINITIVE"?? Maybe...I KNOW AND REMEMBER WELL how much I loved a lotta those bands, though. Okay...and one more thing--just because a LOT OF THESE BANDS WERE ONE HIT WONDERS, DOESN'T MEAN THEY WEREN'T AWESOME...!! Huey Lewis & The News Billy Joel Til Tuesday Bad English John Waite solo Lone Justice Rush Asia Scandal Depeche Mode XTC U2 (through UNFORGETTABLE FIRE) Saga Journey The Look Queen (until Radio Ga-Ga...WTF.) The B-52's The Romantics Bittersweet Alley Styx (until that MR. ROBOTO fiasco...jeesh) The Knack Siouxsie & The Banshees The Cult The Waitresses The Cure Joan Jett and the Blackhearts Aldo Nova Joan Armatrading The Pretenders The Buzzcocks The Clash Elvis Costello Nick Lowe Rh Factor Bryan Adams Toby Redd Alison Moyet Erasure Ramones Bruce Springsteen Iggy Pop Alice Cooper New Edition Bobby Brown solo Johnny Gill solo The Pogues Split Enz/Crowded House John Parr Salt n Pepa Taylor Dayne SRV Crowded House The Waterboys The Tubes Duran Duran X Suicidal Tendencies Skinny Puppy The Rockets Tommy Tutone Greg Kihn Band Icehouse Metallica Prince Corey Hart Madonna Information Society Chequered Past Marshall Crenshaw Concrete Blonde Don Henley solo Glenn Frey solo Dexy's Midnight Runners (c'mon, Eileen...you know you love 'em. heh.) Madness Squeeze INXS The Boomtown Rats Whitney Houston GnR Poison Motley Crue Whitesnake Bon Jovi Go-Go's Bangles Lita Ford Pat Benatar Heart Living Colour Belinda Carlisle (yeah, I don't think to list her solo sometimes...thanks Darrin.) Stray Cats ...That's all I could think of before my sinuses said "Okay...that's ENOUGH"...heh. YADA, YADA, YADA...

I thought those might have been too easy. And even though I thought of Madonna, too, Awesome **** is Supertramp
I never remember this band's name. No matter what I couldn't think of it. They're an awesome band! I didn't get into them until long after they were popular though (about 9-10 years ago). I especially enjoy their lyrics... they don't do that lover's lament type stuff (at least not for the most part) and their arrangements are rather intriguing. HELLYEAH!! I was TOTALLY into them in Junior High/High School...and they have 4 of the VERY BEST (MY OPINION...whatever...) ALBUMS IN THE 70'S; CRIME OF THE CENTURY-'74/CRISIS? WHAT CRISIS?-'75/EVEN IN THE QUIETEST MOMENTS-'77/BREAKFAST IN AMERICA-'79. [/b] There's a bunch of bands like this; Styx, Pink Floyd, Alice Cooper, Santana, etc., that I got turned onto by friends who had older brothers, mostly...the same ones who let us listen to TOMMY with 'em. I also had three cousins used to hand me down A LOT OF COOL ****, too...along with Queen/CHI/Beach Boys/Elton John/Hall & Oates/Carpenters/ELO/Billy Joel/Jethro Tull/Kansas/Foreigner/Boston were my musical world at that time...And it all broke loose after High School. heh. As your circles change, so does your musical tastes...or, you see there's more out there than what was cool in School, or what your circle thought was cool; ahh, peer pressure. ...and to coin a phrase--"What a long strange trip it's been..." PEACE--Kath

Lot's of words.
Cool. Can't wait to see what you come up with. Now figure out the rest! Also funny with the Huey Clue you decided to save time by typing "Blah Blah Blah" to replace "at 11 TV" a grand savings of 6 extra letters...HA! DUDE...that "Lot's of words" IS NOT IN MY ORIGINAL POST...go back up there and look. NOT ME. I might have a tube in my brain, but I would NEVER EVER PUT A POSSESSIVE IN THE WORD "LOTS" And--"blah blah blah" wasn't to use more or use less characters...I couldn't find it on the list, and couldn't remember the rest.

Ok, then. Internets was out yesterday so I'm back and will see what I can come up with.
Rock Church Aviator
Brutal Young Male Animals
Homo-Sapian Collection of Individuals
Mollusk Made Calcium Carbonate Spread for Toast
This man once sang "Tam bo li de say de moi ya Hey Jambo Jumbo"
A pile of ashes is all that remains
One man and a local at 11 TV program
A kiss from this band might burn your face
He might be your handyman but cannot alter your suit
Garden plant man who is backed by Mexican metal
The Savior everyone tries to keep up with
Grand scale loss of life
Lethal Substance
Football Aircraft Band
Guys not resting
When this three piece became a two, the condition of stability and peace was finally achieved.
That's all for now. Should be easy...have fun!
Okay...I got a few...but again, to DO this would be a MUCH longer task for me than to figure 'em out... so... ROCK CHURCH AVIATOR= Stone Temple Pilots MOLLUSK MADE CALCIUM CARBONATE SPREAD FOR TOAST= Pearl Jam ONE MAN & A LOCAL PROGRAM blah blah blah= Huey Lewis & The News GARDEN PLANT MAN WHO IS BACKED BY MEXICAN METAL= Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass THE SAVIOR EVERYONE TRIES TO KEEP UP WITH= Jesus Jones LETHAL SUBSTANCE= Poison GUYS NOT RESTING= Men At Work I'll see what I can do with the rest, and will try towork on some CLUES over the next couple days...
