I was recently reading one of my favorite music blogs, J.A. Bartlett's The Hits Just Keep On Comin' (http://jabartlett.wordpress.com).  Earlier this week he posted about an obscure single by an obscure horn band, Ten Wheel Drive with Genya Ravan (http://jabartlett.wordpress.com/2010/08/03/i-like-it-in-the-morning/).  Being a fan of horn bands like Chicago, BS&T, TOP, Sons of Champlin, Cat Empire, The Ides of March his post caught my interest.

I decided to explore the link he provided to a blog about the band (http://tenwheeldrive.blogspot.com).  Much to my pleasant surprise.  There's a playlist of their material that can be streamed from the blog to get just a sample of their ear candy.

Listening to the material, it hasn't aged as well as material by certain other horn bands but the horns are solid, the music is often quite catchy.  Check out Morning Much Better the one song of Ten Wheel Drive that snuck onto the Billboard Hot 100 charts back in the early 70s (it peaked @ 74 in late August 1970) for an interesting sample of their work.

Considering there are a handful of fellow fans of horn bands on here I wanted to share!

I love that blog!

Good song; reminds me of the Grateful Dead's "Cumberland Blues" and I wonder how that song would have sounded with a horn part?
