Didn't know if I should post this here or under Silver Screen, but how about the movies that defined the 80's, music based or not? There were some good ones, some great, and some incredibly stupid, but I know my brothers and I, and plenty of friends, watched them all over and over again-

How about "Purple Rain?" I've never seen it, but I still see all kinds of music videos with movie footage at the health club on the "80's Pop" station.
As much as I dislike Madonna and Lady Gaga, who blatantly rips her off fashion and music wise, making gagillions in the process, I have to mention "Desperately Seeking Susan," which is sprinkled with Madonna's disposable pop ditties and features Her Greatness in a role in the film. My wife and I have a dear female friend who says, "Madonna was the end of pop music, it went irrevocably downhill after she made it big." I also have an estranged cousin who insists Madge SAVED pop music.
